Surviving on chinese

As the saying goes, the world is a smaller place thanks to the invention of air travel. Metaphorically that may be true but it's still a bloody long way around. A total of 23hrs flying is indeed a pinch compared to an 8 week voyage but you can't help wondering that cruising the seas would be an all together more relaxing method of getting around. Rarely have I felt less comfortable and more tired than sat in seat 50L of an Air China plane to Melbourne via Beijing and Shanghai. Add to that a mind boggling trek around both the connecting airports and it's fair to say next time I'll probably look at having a few nights stop over somewhere interesting. On the plus side though, the views from the plane over Siberia and Mongolia were unbelievable and if I wanted luxury travel I should of paid for it. Instead I'm a tight bastard so went the cheapest. I'm not grumbling.

Melbourne has rubbed off rather well on me so far. People are so friendly and helpful, it's incredibly tourist friendly whilst at the same time being very laid back and Australian. Te rest of today is just about chilling out, there's a free comedy club later on but I can see myself fallin asleep on the back row. Still wouldn't Be too bad :)
